If you’re thinking about booking a Princess cruise or have already secured your holiday at sea, one of the questions you might be asking is whether there’s a limit on drinks. With Princess offering popular packages like Princess Plus and Princess Premier, it’s a fair question – especially if you’re planning to make the most of them.

Let’s break down exactly how it works.

Is There a Drinks Limit on Princess Cruises?

Yes, there is a drinks limit – but it’s more about keeping things fair rather than restricting your holiday fun.

With both the Plus and Premier packages, you can order up to 15 alcoholic drinks per day. The count resets at 6am each morning. That means cocktails by the pool, a glass of wine with lunch, beers in the evening, and a nightcap are all covered – as long as you stay within the daily allowance.

It’s worth saying that non-alcoholic drinks don’t count towards this limit, so you can enjoy as many speciality coffees, mocktails, soft drinks, and waters as you like.

Why Is There a Limit?

Cruise lines, including Princess, set a limit to encourage responsible drinking and avoid people overdoing it. Fifteen alcoholic drinks per day is still very generous – most people never get close to that number. For context, that’s the equivalent of a drink every hour you’re awake!

What Happens if You Hit the Limit?

If you reach your 15 alcoholic drinks for the day, you won’t be able to order any more alcoholic beverages until the next morning. At that point, your count resets and you can start again.

If you’d like another drink after your allowance, you can still buy one at the menu price, but most guests never feel the need.

Do You Need to Worry About Sharing Drinks?

Drinks packages are strictly non-shareable. Each person in your cabin must buy the same package if one person chooses it, which is how Princess makes sure there’s no passing drinks around. Bar staff are trained to spot this too, so it’s best to avoid testing the system.

So, Will the Limit Affect Your Cruise?

For the vast majority of guests, the drinks limit won’t be an issue at all. You’ll have more than enough choice, whether you prefer a few cocktails in the evening or like to enjoy a glass of wine with every meal. Add in unlimited speciality coffees and soft drinks, and most people find the package excellent value.

Yes, Princess Cruises do have a drinks limit, but at 15 alcoholic drinks per day, it’s highly unlikely to hold you back. Think of it more as a safeguard than a restriction. You’ll still be free to enjoy your favourite drinks throughout your cruise without worrying about big bar bills at the end.

Happy cruising!
