If you’ve got a cruise booked with P&O and recently heard about cancellations, you’re not alone. A few upcoming sailings have been scrapped due to operational changes – but don’t panic. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s happening, how it affects you, and what to do next.
From 14 May, guests booked on specific itineraries will be contacted about their cruise being cancelled or changed. In most cases, full refunds are on the way, and there’s a bit of onboard spending money being offered as a goodwill gesture for future bookings.
And if you’re eyeing up a new cruise? Replacement itineraries are due to go on sale from 4 June.
Which Cruises Are Cancelled?
The following sailings are affected:
N633
N634
K607
K620
N701
K707
K709
K720
R720
Let’s break down what that means:
N633, K607 and K620
These cruises are being cancelled outright. Guests will receive a full refund to their original payment method within 14 working days. Plus, if you rebook another cruise by 30 June 2025, they’ll receive £50 per person in future onboard spending money (for the first two people in each cabin).
N634
This one’s also being cancelled. Refunds will be processed in the same way, and affected customers will receive £25 per person to spend onboard a new cruise (again, applies to the first two guests in each cabin if they rebook by 30 June 2025).
N701
This Caribbean cruise is a little different. Where possible, guests will be moved to a similar sailing on Iona (G701), which departs and returns on the same dates. You’ll be given a like-for-like cabin, and if the new one costs less, you’ll get the difference refunded. If you’d rather not move to G701, you can request a full refund instead – just make sure you do that by 21 May.
Guests who need an accessible cabin or evacuation chair will unfortunately have their cruise cancelled and refunded automatically.
K707, K709, K720 and R720
Itineraries K707, K709, K720 and R720 were not yet on sale and therefore no-one has been affected by the changes.
FAQs – Redeployments and Cancellations
Why are these cruises being cancelled?
P&O Cruises are making operational changes and redeploying ships to alternative destinations. These things happen now and again, especially when planning future sailings.
How will I get my refund?
Refunds will be made to your original payment method within 14 working days of cancellation.
What about extras I paid for, like excursions or drinks packages?
All pre-purchased extras through My P&O Cruises will also be refunded automatically. These might take up to a week after cancellation to show on your account.
Will I get anything for the inconvenience?
Yes – depending on your cancelled cruise, you’ll receive either £25 or £50 per person in onboard spending money when you rebook by 30 June 2025 (only applies to the first two guests in the cabin). For N701 Suite guests and those with accessibility needs, this may increase to £100.
What if I don’t want the replacement cruise on G701?
That’s fine – just let your travel agent or P&O know directly by 21 May and you’ll get a full refund instead.
Can I choose my cabin if I’m moved to G701?
Yes, especially if you booked on a Select Fare. You may need to contact your travel agent or P&O directly to sort out cabin choices or upgrades.
Will my current benefits or deals be honoured on G701?
Yes, any offers or packages you had as part of your original booking will carry over to the new one.
If you’re affected and not sure what to do next, your best bet is to wait for official contact from P&O or your travel agent. And don’t forget – new itineraries are launching on 4 June, so you might even find something better.
